Ex-Suns, the former Lakers manager Frank Vogel coach joins Mavericks as the main assistant of Jason Kidd

Frank Vogel has his next coaching stop, and is his first assistant role since 2011.
The head of the NBA coach joins the technical staff of Dallas Mavericks as the main assistant under Jason Kidd, second Shams Charania by Espn. Vogel had previously worked as a consultant for Kidd last season and will now take on a more formal role.
Announcement
The rental will bring together Vogel with Anthony Davis, with whom he won an NBA title as head coach of the Lakers in 2020.
Vogel has 12 seasons of experience as a coach head with the Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, Orlando Magic and Indiana Pacers. He won the title with the Lakers in the Covid-19 bubble, but since then he has fought to find a stable situation. He only lasted a season with the Suns, who shot him after publishing a record of 49-33 in 2023-24.
This work will be Vogel’s first position of assistant since he was a member of Jim O’Brien on Pacers 2011-12 staff.
Bringing to Vogel is part of an out of season for the Maverks, who has also had a very rich season of events. Their current core is a strange mixture of young and old, with Davis, Klay Thompson and Kyrie Irving as the leader while the eighteen year old Cooper Flagg arrives as the future of the franchise. The team also acquired D’Angelo Russell and Dante EXUM to share the management functions of the balls while Irving recovers from a knee injury that should keep it out until the 2025-26 season.
It is difficult to say how exactly the Maverick will appear next season with an entire season of Davis and Flagg, but Vogel’s note for the defensive scheme figures to be a resource.
