Fabrizio Romano Shares Update on William Saliba Contract Talks at Arsenal
Arsenal intensifies his efforts to extend William Saliba’s contract and recently offered an improved agreement for the defender, revealed Givemesport’s main journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Northern London team is in continuous talks to extend the stay of the French international to the Emirates in the foreseeable future and ensure its services in the middle of speculation on the interest of the Spanish giants of Real Madrid.
Romano claims that Arsenal is in talks to extend both Saliba and Bukayo Saka at the moment, with “very positive” conversations concerning a new contract for the International of England.
Saliba, who joined Arsenal from the French side of Saint-Etitian in 2019, was under contract until June 2027, obtaining a basic salary reported from £ 190,000 per week.
Arsenal offers an improved offer for the Saliba
Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, revealed that Arsenal wanted Saliba to feel like a crucial part of their ambitious project and is ready to reflect this in the contractual discussions in progress:
“I think the main objective would be a saliba because for Saka, for sure, the conversation is already very positive. I think Arsenal will have no big problems to extend this contract.
“For William Saliba, obviously, there is this constant speculation on Real Madrid. Well, what I am told is that Arsenal recently improved is not today or yesterday, but let’s say, in recent weeks, their proposal to William Saliba.
“Arsenal therefore made an important proposal to the player. Arsenal wants to extend his contact. Arsenal wants Saliba to feel like a crucial part of a great project, an ambitious project, where they do something really special to the club.
“And that’s what Arsenal tries to do with William Saliba.”
Saliba was one of the best defenders of the Premier League in recent seasons and has been the key to the abandonment of Arsenal three consecutive title challenges, helping the Gunners finish second from the 2023 to 2025 table.
The French international has raised 135 appearances for the northern London team to date, scoring seven goals, and has been included in the PFA year team for the last three seasons.
Saliba was not involved in Arsenal’s 3-0 victory against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, after suffering an ankle injury before the international break.
The Frenchman trained with the team on Monday and could return this week, potentially in time for the opening of the club league of the club Tuesday in Athletic Bilbao.
