Former Arsenal soccer player Billy Vigar dead at 21 after suffering brain injury during game
Chichester City FC Billy Vigar died at the age of 21 after undergoing a “important brain injury” in a match on Saturday, the team announced on Thursday.
Vigar, a former arsenal player, played in a match of the Isthmian League in Wingate & Finchley when the injury occurred.

CHICHESTER revealed on Monday that Vigar was in induced coma and in intensive care.
“After undergoing a significant brain injury last Saturday, Billy Vigar was placed in an induced coma,” said a statement from the Vigar family, published via Chichester. “On Tuesday, he needed an operation to help the chances of recovery. Although it helped, the injury proved to be too much for him and he died on Thursday 25 morning.
“The responses to the original update show how much Billy has been thought and loved in sport. His family is devastated that it happened while he was doing the sport he loved.”

The Chichester match on Saturday against Lewes FC was also postponed.

Vigar signed with Arsenal at the age of 14, playing in four competitions.
He spent time with Derby, Eastbourne Borough and Hastings United before joining Chichester in August.
