Gary Neville Labels Arsenal “The only team you can rely on” but still throws big title doubt
Gary Neville has shared her thoughts on Arsenal after supporting them to win the Premier League this season, with Manchester United Legend admitted that he is worried about their attack
Gary Neville believes Arsenal is the only Premier League team you can “trust when they go up”, but he still has a great doubt about them this season. Arsenal has finished second in the last three seasons and has invested heavily this summer when they look to win the league for the first time since 2004.
Gunners has spent almost £ 200 million on Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi and Noni Madueke and that figure will surpass 250 million pounds when a Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze is finished.
“There is a lot to admire for Arsenal,” Neville said at the unfiltered football podcast when asked about Gunner’s chances this season. “Do you remember the period where we all criticized them a few years back, when they were quite spun and they would allow goals and they would give wires away?
“Now they are probably the only team I can think of in the league – and one of the few and rare teams in world football – which you can really trust when they go up. It is an old principle for teams maybe 15, 20 years ago that they could defend leads and they could really focus and concentrate on the defensive side of the game.”
Neville has supported Arsenal to win the league this year, but Manchester United legend has concern about their attack. “They are like a little throw to an old Italian team sometimes with long throws, set pieces, compact, don’t give much space away,” he added.

“They also have the dark art in the game where the boss tries to waste time and the players go down by attaching damage. They have some of what is going on so they are wise.
“Carra (Jamie Carragher) actually said something interesting that they remind him of the Rafa Benitez Liverpool team that had these qualities, but they did not have the star quality and style to make the goals and win the league during a season of 38 games.
“It started playing a little on my mind because I have gone for Arsenal again this year (to win the league). I have gone for them for the last three years and they have stopped second and I have gone for them again just because of fear of missing if I did not go for them and they won it! I would not be able to forgive myself!
“There are some of me who look at them and think: (Gabriel) Martinelli has dipped a bit, (Martin) Odegaard is a good player but will he make the goals they need? I think Gyoker will make okay, but will he score 20 goals? (Bukayo) Saka is obvious to stay in shape.
“So there are question marks up about them and that is the big question: can they get the goals and can they be expensive enough to win games and do what Liverpool and Manchester City will do, which is going out and outdoors teams and times?”
