Gary Neville now disagrees with Jamie Carragher about Arsenal’s future in the Premier League title race

Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have had plenty to say about the 2025/26 Premier League title race.

From the first day, the title race was discussed, with Arsenal being in control since the campaign kicked off.

The pressure is mounting on Mikel Arteta’s side, as Manchester City breathes down Arsenal’s neck in second place.

Given that this could be Pep Guardiola’s final season at Man City, a fairytale narrative is developing, one that Arsenal will be eager to ruin.

Gary Neville is confident Arsenal won’t bottle him in Premier League title race

While Arsenal will be top of the table on Christmas Day, everything seems to be going well so far for the Gunners, but history won’t tell you that.

It’s 78 years since Arsenal won the league title after going top at Christmas, and while that doesn’t give fans confidence, Gary Neville believes things will be different this season.

Neville believes Arsenal will win the championship and has doubled down on his opinion after the Gunners’ win at Everton.

“I think at the end of the new year I feel like in February and March Arsenal are going to extend their lead, that’s my honest view,” pundit said on the Gary Neville podcast.

“I think they’ll get to five or six points again. I think this is their year. I think they were always going to be shut down maybe a little bit by City.”

It’s a refreshing view, because if history indicates that Arsenal missed out on the title, the Gunners’ start to the season could rewrite a new ending to history.

Neville concluded: “I’m not sure this Arsenal team is going to bottle it this time.”

Jamie Carragher already predicted Arsenal’s nervousness

Neville doesn’t think Arsenal will bottle him, but he admitted Arteta’s biggest test will come when spring starts to turn into summer.

As the Sky Sports pundit sees the Gunners extending their lead at the top, his sidekick Jamie Carragher has already predicted Arsenal will become nervous.

Speaking in October, Carragher suggested that Man City and Liverpool would not want to be too far behind Arsenal as they inevitably feel the pressure.

“Arsenal are going to get nervous in March and April because they haven’t won a league for so long,” Carragher said.

“Liverpool and Manchester City need to make sure they’re not too far ahead where they can’t affect that.”

Liverpool are already 10 points behind Arsenal, which you would think already puts them out of the race.

Man City, on the other hand, are a different story, being two points behind and having the experience of beating Arsenal to the title.

Neville doesn’t see Man City repeating history this time around, while Carragher believes the nerves are foreshadowed.

Can Arsenal hold on? The answers will come in the final months of the season.
