Gary Neville shares honest Benjamin Sesko review after Viktor Gyokeres’ Arsenal masterclass

Arsenal almost signed Benjamin Sesko this summer, but Gary Neville’s latest review suggests the Gunners made the right decision in avoiding the striker.
Andrea Berta chose Viktor Gyokeres over Sesko because of what Arsenal immediately needed, a reliable goalscorer.
While there is no doubt about Sesko’s talent, the 22-year-old is still early in his career with Arsenal having no time to wait for a striker to adapt.
On matchday ten, Gyokeres produced his best Arsenal performance against Burnley as the Swede scored his sixth goal of the season, while at the City Ground, Sesko failed to impress.

Gary Neville shares his honest thoughts on Benjamin Sesko after Arsenal transfer interest
After Arsenal’s win and Manchester United’s draw, Gary Neville was asked to talk about the two strikers who joined the Premier League this summer.
Last August, Neville said Sesko was “far” from the level required in England’s top flight when it comes to his fitness, which was similar to the assessment the expert just gave the Slovenian.
After talking about Gyokeres on NBC Sports, host Rebecca Lowe prompted Neville to compare the Swede to Sesko, given they arrived in England at similar times.
Commenting on what he saw from Sesko against Nottingham Forest, Neville said the following.
“I’m no further ahead with him when it comes to panel exclusions. I think he’s doing well compared to the other signings United have signed up front, and he looks awkward.
“He had a couple of really good chances in the first half where the balls were just played in, and his touch wasn’t good.”
It was no surprise to hear Neville’s take on the striker’s play, as Sesko struggled against the Tricky Trees, failing to register a shot on target and completing just nine passes, according to Sofascore.
Comparing Gyokeres and Sesko’s Premier League debuts
Sesko has a lot of talent, but it seems the former RB Leipzig player needs time to find his feet in the Premier League.
So far, it seems like Arsenal have made the right decision in signing Gyokeres, who is really starting to hit it off with his teammates.
| Viktor Gyokeres | Statistical | Benjamin Sesko |
| 10 | Matches | 10 |
| 4 | Goals | 2 |
| 20% | conversion % | 11% |
| 5 | Big missed opportunities | 3 |
| 2 | Big chances created | 0 |
| 0.8 | Shots on target p/g | 0.7 |
That being said, aside from their goal totals and conversion rates, there isn’t much that divides Sesko and the Arsenal striker, based on other vital stats for a striker’s game.
Over time, both players will be eager to increase their average number of shots on target per game, with both failing to record an average above one.
For now, Arsenal will have no complaints about Gyokeres, who continues to go from strength to strength in Mikel Arteta’s team of superstars.
