Giannis Antetokounmpo’s last-minute block and steal on LeBron James leads Bucks to win over Lakers
The Milwaukee Bucks beat the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday. Naturally, it was about doing something big with Giannis Antetokounmpo.
With the game tied in the final minute, the former MVP scored two stops against LeBron James to earn a 105-101 Bucks victory. It’s the Lakers’ first single-digit loss of the season.
Announcement
First there was a block of the usually automatic layup type for James.
Then there was a hit that forced a turnover, allowing the Bucks to put the game out of reach.
Antetokounmpo finished with 21 points on 9 of 11 shooting, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks, 2 steals and 4 turnovers.
Overall it was a frustrating game for the Lakers, especially for Luka Dončić, who fouled out for the first time this season. He committed his sixth foul in that final minute by not giving Kevin Porter Jr. space to land a 3-pointer. Dončić, of course, was not happy with the call, and many others.
Dončić also had a highly inefficient night, shooting 8 of 25 for 24 points. He was 4-of-6 from 3-point range, meaning he went a bizarre 4-of-19 on 2-pointers. Ten of those mistakes came inside the paint. He described it as a “terrible day for me” to reporters after the match.
Announcement
The loss lowers the Lakers’ record to 23-13, good for fifth place in the Western Conference. Now I’m 8-8 since December 1st. The Bucks, meanwhile, improved to 17-21.
