Guarino calls for defensive focus as West Ham United travel to Arsenal
West Ham United head coach Rita Guarino says her team must be focused on defense when they travel to the Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal this afternoon.
The Hammers have only won once away in the Barclays Women’s Super League this season and a trip to Arsenal is always a tough task.

Speaking to the media at the pre-match press conference, West Ham United coach Guarino said his team needed to concentrate defensively on what is a big pitch at the Emirates Stadium.
“Arsenal create a lot of chances, so it’s another game where we need to be focused defensively,” Guarino said. “We know how dangerous they can be.
“It’s a big pitch, we have to be very focused and concentrate on the distance between the players.”
West Ham United kept a clean sheet as they drew 0-0 with Manchester United at the Chigwell Construction Stadium in midweek. Guarino wants his team to continue the momentum in this match.

She said: “It was a good result for us, especially against a team near the top of the table. We have to keep that confidence.”
The Hammers are now three points clear of the relegation play-off spot in the table. They also have a better goal difference than bottom side Leicester City. Guarino doesn’t pay any attention to the rankings at this point, she wants to focus on performance.
She said: “We don’t need to look at the table right now because everything can change in a few games. We need to focus on what we can get from our games.”
West Ham United’s Barclays Women’s Super League match at Arsenal kicks off at 12 p.m.
