He laughed for the NBA wage cap, the commitment persists: sports podcasts

In the last episode of Sporticast, the hosts Scott Soshnick and Eben Novy-Williams discuss some of the largest sports business stories of the week, including the NBA salary limit, which jumps to $ 154.6 million next season.
This is an increase of 10% this season ($ 140.6 million) and the maximum increase allowed according to the collective bargaining agreement of the League. The push was foreseen now that the League is entering new 11 -year agreements, media and transmissions for a value of $ 77 billion. The teams quickly performed agreements based on the new reality. The thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the MVP of both the regular season and the finals, agreed this week with an extension of the “supermax” four-year contract of $ 285 million, making it the most paid player in the history of the NBA on the basis of the year.
The hosts speak of the economy of the increase in the wage limit. They also speak of the role that the wage floor plays in keeping the player paid throughout the League. Unlike MLB, where there is no minimum of the payroll, the NBA teams must spend up to a 90% floor of the salary limit or face a financial sanction.
Next Up— The Nhl’s Florida Panthers. The two times champions in defense of the Stanley Cup should have lost at least one of their stars in the free agency in this low season. Instead, Brad Marchand, Aaron Ekblad and Sam Bennett with long -term agreements have signed again. Each player probably took a discount on his hometown to return. The panthers are the favorites to win again next season and the mix of time, team culture and no income tax could break the patterns of what costs keep a list of championship together in the modern NHL.
They close themselves by talking about Michael Jordan. As part of his antitrust cause against Nascar, Jordan’s legal team was trying to force the NFL, NBA and NHL teams to share their financial information. It is something that the League obviously wants to keep private, and probably something that Jordan would not have sought if he was still an NBA owner.
