Highest Score 100: Rankings that rise and fall during Week 7 of fantasy basketball

The High Score 100, the top 100 players in Yahoo’s new fantasy basketball format, consistently reflects year-to-date performance and production trends. Each weekly update notes who is actually delivering value and who is slipping away.

Here’s a recap of the biggest hits and misses during Week 6 of fantasy basketball, with the full top 100 rating at the bottom of the article. I will update my rankings every Tuesday throughout the fantasy basketball season.

Before diving into the lifts, it’s worth noting the ripple effect of the Stars’ return this week. Tyler Herro (36) and Jalen Williams (53) made their season debuts in Week 6, pushing rotation players further down the roster as usage and minutes normalized. As more stars return from injuries, expect more volatility in the mid-table.

High scoring lifts

Zach Edey – FC, Memphis Grizzlies: 76th overall (⬆️ 16)

The Grizzlies big man is becoming a dominant force in the paint. I had to move him up the rankings because of his outstanding play to close out Week 6 with a win over Sacramento, racking up 32 points, 17 rebounds and 5 blocks on 16-of-20 shooting. A 64-point fantasy outing was shocking. Yet, at this rate, he is aiming to become a fantasy asset with 37-40+ High Score points. Edey is averaging 13 points, 11 rebounds and 2 blocks per game since returning from injury – keep him locked in your lineups.

Josh Hart – G/FC, New York Knicks: 87th overall (⬆️ 16)

Hart’s rotation minutes have increased as New York deals with injuries, and he has responded with the multi-category contributions we’ve come to love and expect. In the last four games, Hart has averaged 17 points, 11.8 rebounds, 7 assists and 3.3 stocks per game, equivalent to 52.5 fantasy points in High Score. A promotion was needed after that level of production in Week 6. We can expect that kind of stability as long as OG Anunoby sits out and Mitchell Robinson plays back-to-back.

Cooper Flagg – G/FC, Dallas Mavericks: 58th overall (⬆️ 15)

Flagg has shown signs of growth offensively over the past month. The rookie phenom has recorded at least 50 fantasy points in High Score in consecutive weeks. Additionally, he became the youngest player in NBA history to drop 35 points in a game in a win over the Clippers in Week 6. Flagg’s versatility is starting to shine through on both ends, showing the kind of upside managerial imagination you expect when placing him as a top-50 player. The spike in usage and month-over-month improvement as a scorer will only push him higher in the rankings.

Ausar Thompson – FC, Detroit Pistons: 118th overall (⬇️ 28)

Thompson’s name appears on the bust list for consecutive weeks as his production continues to decline. Even though he’s back as a starter, he hasn’t topped 30 fantasy points since Nov. 9. In his last seven games, his highest rating is 27 and for the season, Thompson is averaging 30.2 fantasy points per game. This is on the verge of not being worth keeping your fantasy roster in a default High Score league. He’s playing less than 30 minutes per game this season, so an increase in minutes would certainly improve his production.

Jarrett Allen – FC, Cleveland Cavaliers 100th overall (⬇️ 20)

Like Thompson, Allen is back again and maintains last place in the High Score 100. A finger injury has affected his performance lately, but we can’t ignore the stats. He hasn’t topped 30 fantasy points in more than two weeks, dropping his average to 31 fantasy points per game. He’s actually ranked 107th, but I give him some grace for his finger ailment.

Jaden McDaniels – FC, Minnesota Timberwolves: 101st overall (⬇️ 10)

I expect McDaniels will have a brief stint on the bust list after a disappointing Week 6, where he scored 26 fantasy points. With the return of Jalen Williams and Tyler Herro, someone had to drop out, and McDaniels’ play as of late hasn’t been enough to warrant staying in the top 100. After a hot start to the season, he’s scoring 18 points per game, which has normalized to 14 points per game over the last 14 games, with improved efficiency that unfortunately won’t impact the high-scoring mark.
