‘I’m a double Premier League champion – this one reason is why Arsenal haven’t won a title’

Arsenal has played the second violin in the Premier League in the past three years, and while they are looking to fight for the crown, Joleon Lescott has a reason for which they have not yet won title

Former Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott thinks that a thin team has prevented Arsenal from winning the Premier League in recent seasons. The Gunners spent around 250 million pounds sterling this summer after three consecutive places.

Mikel Arteta claimed only one piece of silverware during his six years in charge of the Emirates, although he is increasingly close to hoist a high -flying title at altitude. “Probably this season, they will be closer because of their team. I think it was their team (who prevented them from winning the League before).

“I do not think that anyone can guarantee that his best XIs will always be available. But I think their team is better placed now to deal with injuries and suspensions and all that.”

Lescott was then asked about the lack of argentie of Arteta of his time in charge of the Emirates, and thinks that a good season of the clubs that have changed things could ask difficult questions.

“I think it’s a big question mark if, let’s say-City is in a transition period now-if they come now and finish above Arsenal, I will ask questions about Arteta,” he added.

“If City changes the team and is then the best competitor of Liverpool, it would be a big question mark. Liverpool does the same, changing the players and changed their manager.
