Walter is CEO and president of Twg Global. He is also the main owner and president of the Los Angeles Dodgers. In the declaration, Buss said: “I got to know Mark very well in time and I was happy to learn how he shares those same values.
“In the past four years, Mark has been an excellent partner for us and we are excited to continue working with him to continue the extraordinary inheritance of the Lakers.”
Jeanie’s father, Jerry Buss, purchased the Lakers for $ 67.5 million in 1979. The Lakers won 11 of their 17 NBA titles under the ownership of the Buss family. Jeanie took on the position of governor of the Lakers after the death of his father in 2013.

The Buss family will maintain a minority participation in the Lakers while Walter adds another great team to its impressive wallet. Walter has a stake in the Dodgers, Los Angeles Sparks (Wnba), Andretti Global (Racing) and Soccer Club Chelsea FC and RC Strasburg.
“The Lakers have long been one of the most iconic franchise of sport,” said Walter. “Since Dr. Jerry Buss has purchased the team for the first time in 1979, they have really set the standard for basketball in one era after another, which is why you can find people anywhere in the world who wear shirts and lakers shirts.
“I admire what he, Jeanie and the Buss family have built, and I know how much this special organization matters for southern Californians and sports fans around the world. I also have enormous respect for Jeanie’s continuous commitment to maintain the long -term vision of the Lakers and the elite status, and I am excited to work with her on the next time.”
Selling most of the team to Walter was voted by Jeanie and her brothers. According to the Associated Press, the transaction is set to close in the third or fourth quarter of 2025.
