Josh Minott brings the “relentless” energy, elite nickname “to Celtics – NBC Sports Boston

The Boston Celtics have made another small addition on Tuesday, but later it could prove to be another aware move made by the President of the Basketball Operations Brad Stevens.
According to reports, Josh Minott will sign a two -year contract of $ 5 million with the Celtics in the free agency. The 22 -year -old striker played sparingly for three seasons on the Minnesota Timberwolves bench, with an average of 2.3 points, 1.0 rebounds and 5.0 minutes in 93 career games. But according to the Celtics Insider of NBC Sports Boston Chris Forsberg, those numbers do not tell the complete story of the Memphis product.
Forsberg shared his opinion on Minott’s signature during Tuesday Initial edition.
“First of all, Dude has an elite nickname. It’s the Tosaerba,” said Forsberg. “Because it is relentless with its energy, and I think we are seeing a theme here with the boys that the Celtics are bringing, whether it is a draft or through the free agency. Cotter, energy, younger guys who bring only a little tenacity on the floor. They also have a little versatility. Minott has a big leap, has a decent blow from 3 points.
“Listen, I’m not telling you that it will enter and suddenly blossoms, but these are the possibilities you have to take while you start developing. You have so many draft choices that you are willing to bring to make some consolidation with this boy in terms of what has been able to show at the level of professionals. So we start to launch a little down and to understand.”
The nickname of “Mown” by Minott derives from his energy -playing style and was given by his former teammates from Memphis.
Minott and Big Man Luka Garza have only been purchases of free agents of Boston so far this summer. The Celtics have selected the Spanish wing Hugo Gonzalez, the great Kentucky Amari Williams man and the VCU Max Shulga Guard during the 2025 NBA Draft. They exchanged Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis as part of their efforts to fill the second apron of the luxury tax and lost the Luke Kornet center in the free agency up to San Antonio Spurs.
Other moves are coming for the C as Minott’s signature will put them back on the second apron. Boston will continue to navigate in his complicated financial situation while seeking the help of Frontcourts, with Garza and Neemiabs currently the only centers of the roster.
The veteran great man in Horford remains on the market of free agents.
