Karl-Anthony Towns injury update: Knicks star will miss Sunday’s game vs. Magic with calf injury

The New York Knicks will not have Karl-Anthony Towns when they face the Orlando Magic on Sunday. Towns, who was initially listed as questionable with a calf injury, has been ruled out of the game, coach Mike Brown revealed Sunday.

After Friday’s game — a 146-112 win over the Utah Jazz — there was some uncertainty about Towns’ injury. Brown was asked if Towns received treatment on his calf during the game. Brown said he wasn’t aware of that situation and that no one told him about it during the game. Towns’ minutes were limited in the contest, but that was likely due to the Knicks jumping out to a big lead over Utah.

He finished Friday’s game with 18 points and nine rebounds in just over 22 minutes. Cities are averaging 33 minutes this season.

On Saturday, Towns was deemed questionable to face the Magic due to tightness in his left calf.

He managed to hit a few shots before Sunday’s game, but will ultimately be held out of the game due to the injury.

Towns, 30, once again got off to a hot start and averaged 22.5 points and 11.9 rebounds in 22 games with the Knicks. His contributions led New York to a 15-7 start, good for second place in the Eastern Conference.

The Magic are also off to a good start and are sitting at 14-9 entering Sunday’s game.
