Knicks rejects the report that made offer to Ben Simmons; Landry Shamet, Malcolm Brogdon observes
The New York Knicks have a couple of roster points to fill before the start of the season and will bring a reserve guard for one of them.
A relationship emerged that the Knicks offered that point of guard to Ben Simmons, But he refused it: the Knicks rejected the idea that there was some offer. It is not a coincidence that the journalists of Knicks trusted Ian Begley of Sny.TV and Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News have both published on X that the Knicks have never made an offer to Simmons. Both said that the conversations took place with the Simmons agent (who no longer represents Simmons), but there was no formal offer.
Begley added that New York is observing Landry Shamet or Malcolm Brogdon for that role.
Knicks had the dialogue with the free agent Ben Simmons during the low season and certainly had an interest in him, but the club never made a formal offer to Simmons, for championship sources. Landry Shamet, Malcolm Brogdon among those on Nyk Radar for his solitary list point

This story can be bogged down in semantics. The Knicks almost certainly never made a formal offer to Simmons, however, they could have informed the representative of Simmons informally exactly what they could or even plan to offer, so that if/when the offer was done it was more a formality. However, Simmons and Knicks were not on the same page.
Both Shamet, who played in 50 games for the Knicks last season, and Brogdon probably adapts to the Knicks better because they are better shooters (Shamet shot 39.7% from over the arch for New York last season and Brogdon is a 38.8% career on 3 episodes). Shamet scored 5.7 points per game for the Knicks last season, while Brogdon scored 12.7 points and 4.1 assists with the Wizards on average.
What does not change also is that anyone who brings the Knicks, all they can offer are minimal veterans contracts and this agreement may not be fully guaranteed.
