Jent, fresh by winning the NBA Summer League championship by training the Hornets with a 6-0 record, joins Brown’s staff after a season as assistant with Charles Lee in Charlotte. He was an NBA coach assistant with eight teams in 17 seasons, mixing the periods as head of the coach for the Bakersfield Jam of the D-League and an assistant with Ohio State, his Alma Mater.

After a four -year player career with the Buckeyes, Jent played in CBA and Italy, Spain and Greece, as well as short stops with the Houston Rockets and Knicks.

Previously, Brown pursued the head of the associated coach of New Orleans Pellicani James Borrego for his assistant n. 1, but the Pellicans would not let him come out of his contract to make a lateral move. Brown’s next choice was the assistant of the Indiana Pacers Mike Weinar, but remained in Rick Carlisle’s staff and held his family in Indianapolis.

According to reports, Brown rapidly passed to Jent, who will play a role of “offensive coordinator” as head coach associated in the Knicks staff. Brendan O’Connor will be the “defensive coordinator”, leaving Tyronn Lue staff with the Los Angeles Clippers to join Brown.

The Knicks hired Brown as the coach chief last month after shooting Tom Thibodeau. Thibodeau was fired after his fifth season despite having trained the team at his first finals of the conference in 25 years. In New York it was therefore prevented from interviewing several established coaches including Jason Kidd, Ime Udoka, Quin Snyder, Chris Finch and Billy Donovan.
