Lakers’ Marcus Smart fined $35,000 for making an obscene gesture in an official speech
Lakers guard Marcus Smart was fined $35,000 for making an obscene gesture toward an official during halftime of Thursday’s game against the Utah Jazz, the NBA announced Saturday.
Smart was given a technical foul for his action as he left the field for halftime after exchanging words with an official.

The Lakers earned a 143-135 victory in Salt Lake City as the 31-year-old defensive specialist scored nine of his 17 points while making three of four three-pointers in the fourth quarter.
Smart, who averaged 10.6 points, 2.9 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 17 games this season, will start again Saturday night in place of the injured Austin Reaves when the Lakers face the Clippers at the Intuit Dome.
