Declan Rice not impressed by reaction to Noni Madueke signing

Declan Rice has spoken of his displeasure at the negative reaction to the signing of Noni Madueke from Chelsea in a £52m deal.

Speaking to the Athletic, Rice was in no doubt of the qualities that Madueke would bring to the Arsenal squad and has backed his England teammate to silence his critics.

Rice stated: “There’s obviously been a lot of talk around his signing. I didn’t like it, if I’m speaking honestly.

“I know how driven he is. I’ve spoken to him, and you’re going to see what he’s about this season. As football players, and players that have played with him, we know the quality he has.”

Noni Madueke training for new position at Arsenal

Madueke has been brought to the club to add versatility and pace to Arteta’s options in attack but his personal trainer has just revealed where the club plan on using the 23-year-old.

With doubts over the futures of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, Madueke’s personal trainer Coach Saul has revealed they are training with the view that the England international will be used on the left.

Coach Saul stated: “Obviously if you think about going to Arsenal, probably anticipating playing maybe on the left side a little bit more or probably a lot more. So obviously trying to get that into the sessions a lot more.”

The Gunners are still interested in bringing another winger to the club and it will be interesting to see how Arteta juggles the options at his disposal.
