Liverpool ‘frontrunners’ to sign £95m Arsenal target for two reasons as Salah exit ‘bombshell’ revealed

0

Liverpool have been named as ‘favourites’ ahead of Arsenal and Manchester City for a signing, while Mohamed Salah could leave.

Salah has been heavily linked with a potential exit in recent months as he clashed with Arne Slot and remains a target for the Saudi Pro League.

The experienced striker’s form has fallen off a cliff since he was the best player in the Premier League last season, and this summer is probably the right time for him and Liverpool separate.

Liverpool are already linked with several potential replacements for Salah, with Newcastle striker Anthony Gordon among those mooted with a move to Anfield.

Gordon came through the ranks at Everton, but is a childhood Liverpool fan and reportedly came close to joining the Premier League giants in the 2024 summer transfer window.

That proposal ultimately failed and Gordon was one of Newcastle’s biggest disappointments this season, scoring just three goals in his 20 Premier League matches.

Despite this, Gordon is still touted for a move to a Big Six club, with Caught offsideWe report that the Reds are the ‘frontrunners’ ahead of Arsenal and Man City for the potential £95million transfer.

A few sources at the outlet said this was due to his affiliation with Liverpool and their long-term interest. They explained: “Liverpool look like Gordon’s early favourites,” a source said.

“He grew up there and his family are Liverpool fans although he was once at Everton.”

Another added: “Interest from Liverpool is strong, they have admired him for some time and there may already have been informal contacts to assess the possibility of a move.

“The problem is that Newcastle will do everything they can to make life difficult for Liverpool like they did with Alexander Isak. I don’t expect them to even consider entering into negotiations unless they can receive something in the region of £85m, maybe even as much as £95m.”

A report by journalist Graeme Bailey for our friends at Team discussionmeanwhile, claims that a “bomb has fallen” concerning Salah, that the club “risks losing at the end of the season”.

The report adds:

“Al-Ittihad are the main Saudi club in the running for Salah, but we understand that Al-Nassr are also in the race, especially as Cristiano Ronaldo could leave. The Saudi Pro League wants any deal for Mo Salah to be concluded at the start of the summer transfer window.

“While Liverpool publicly insist Mo Salah will not leave, sources have told us that privately the club is preparing for his departure and is already exploring possible replacements for the former Chelsea and AS Roma striker.”
