Man United threatened Arsenal and David Raya in a way no other Premier League side could

Manchester United lost their Premier League opener against Arsenal, but it remains one of the best performances of the 2025/26 season.
There was a great pre-season atmosphere around Manchester United after a successful tour of the United States, and it filled the fans with confidence ahead of the season opener.
United lost 1-0 to Arsenal at Old Trafford, but the Red Devils dominated for most of the match and were unlucky not to come away with at least a point.
New signings Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha impressed, but failed to get past Arsenal’s stubborn defence.

David Raya’s toughest game was against Man United
Against Arsenal, United managed a record 20 shots, the highest number recorded since the iconic 8-2 victory in 2011.
Remarkably, Raya managed to keep United away and record a clean sheet at Old Trafford.
According to TNT Sports, Raya made seven saves against United in the season opener, but has averaged just one save per game since.
Raya has made a total of 16 saves this season, including seven at Old Trafford. Arsenal have conceded just three goals in 2025/26.
It proves that Raya’s toughest test of the season came against United, despite the Red Devils failing to score past the Spaniard.
Senne Lammens already close to David Raya’s stops
It was Altay Bayindir who started against Arsenal this season, with United still looking for new goalkeepers at the time.
Ultimately, United completed a deadline day deal for Senne Lammens, and the young Belgian made an incredible start to his Premier League career.
Lammens remains unbeaten with United after starting the last four league matches.

Lammens kept a clean sheet on his debut and was impressive against Brighton and Liverpool. In just four appearances, he has already made 12 saves, putting him just four behind Raya in the standings.
While this shows how impressive Lammens has been for United, it also shows that he is not as protected as Raya at Arsenal.
