Manchester United 0 – 0 Women – Match Report

5

We took a point and a white leaf away from the Leigh sports village with a 0-0 draw against Manchester United in the Barclays female Super League on Sunday, now our undefeated start.

First semester

Melvine Malard was immediately the goal, aimed at the nearby post, but Daphne Van Domselaar was in the right place to make the backup.

She was held on her toes a few moments later, making two big stops and refusing Malard again after a goal race.

Olivia Smith entered a cross, but Phallon Tullis-Joyce was equal to the other end, before Smith strikes a strike towards the goal of the region, the ball striking the bar and passing.

The corner of Anna Sandberg was then turned, but Van Domselaar gathered the ball to recover us, before the corner of Katie McCabe was heading for Caitlin Foord.

We had another good luck to take the lead when Stina Blackstenius won the ball in the last third and sent it to Alessia Russo, but her weak effort was straight to Tillis-Joyce.

In the ascendant towards the end of the first half, Foord brought him back to Kim Little, who crossed the ball for Smith, but his head to the rear post spread.

Foord had time and space to go the goal himself by the half-time, curling it right next to the post.

Second half

Malard managed the goal against Steph Catley at the start of the second half, but she followed him well and blocked the shot for a united corner.

Julia Zigiotti fired just above the bar from the edge of the region, before making a triple change with Frida Maanum, Taylor Hinds and Chloe Kelly for Blackstenius, Smith and McCabe.

It did not take long for Maanum to get involved, winning the ball in a dangerous area and firing fairly largely while we continue to hunt the opening match.

The deep cross of Kelly was captured by Tullis-Joyce, and the old hung a wide shot after Russo directed the ball in the 18 yards box.

Beth Mead replaced Foord as our fourth substitute.

We maintained our quest for a late opening goal while Mariona’s free kick was captured by Tullis-Joyce, and Ella Toone far drawn from the brand because the two parties were ultimately unable to do the breakthrough.
