Martin Odegaard update as injury expert reveals return date for Arsenal star | Football
Martin Odegaard will press to return against Manchester City this weekend with the Arsenal captain who should quickly recover from his last shoulder injury.
The Norwegian international was forced to the first half of the 3-0 victory on Saturday against Nottingham Forest after a collision involving his Jurrien Timber and Morgan Gibbs-White teammate.
Odegaard landed heavily on his left shoulder and Hwas seen in real discomfort when Arsenal’s medical staff tended to him before being replaced by Ethan Nwaneri.
It was the second time that the Gunners captain had been forced first half this season after being also replaced by a shoulder problem against Leeds United in August. After the victory over Forest, Mikel Arteta confirmed that it was the same shoulder that his skipper had injured.
Odegaard did not train on Monday and missed the opening of the Arsenal Champions League in Athletic Bilbao on Tuesday evening.

While Arta has quickly suggested that the midfielder was unlikely to need surgery, two similar injuries in three weeks have raised concerns.
But while Arsenal can choose to take the necessary precautions, the calendar for the recovery of Odegaard is not significant.
Stephen Smith, CEO and founder of Kitman Labs, specializing in injuries well-being and performance analysis, has excluded the possibility of a serious long-term problem with such broken collarbone, identifying the Odegaard problem as an acromioclavicular ligament problem.
Believing that it is a problem of “low content”, the Odegaard recovery period is at seven to 14 days and could be back in training this week before the visit of the Pep Guardiola team.
“It mainly looked like an AC (acromioclavicular) injury. It is much more typical in rugby ”, said Smith Metro.
“Where your collarbone meets your shoulder belt, there is a small ligament there which links it all together. When you fall on your shoulder, it can separate.
“He probably still had a little minor discomfort (from the moment it happened the first time) but could play football well. He does not meet people as in rugby other sports, he does not push people who use his arms.
“ As for any ligament injury, it will either have a small amount of fiber disruption where it would be a year 1. If there is a decent quantity and there is a lot of separation, it is the 2nd year and if it was much worse than that, a year 3, we are talking about going and undergoing surgical intervention. According to the comment that we have heard (Arsenal), they are not at all worried about this
“Typical deadlines for injuries like this, I expected it to be on the lower grade, therefore a period of 10 to 14 days, or even seven to 14 days from the back of this fall. Perhaps faster if he did not exacerbate things too much.
Five days later, the moment when the injury was initially suffered, Smith thinks that there will soon be back among the group, although the club has options when it comes to taking other precautions.
“They will also want to protect it, they have the possibility of giving this collarbone a certain support with a little to put it in pressure,” said Smith.
“There may be times when he is in contactless training when they want him to avoid any physical contact against this shoulder. What you will often see is the training team and this player will wear a different colored backrest so that he can not give him a push. They can do things like that, but I would expect him to come back by doing the vast majority of activities as long as there is not too much associated pain.
Arsenal was hit by a number of injury problems at the start of the season with Bukayo Saka always recovering from an injury to the hamstrings who forced him against Leeds in the second game of his team’s season.
Kai Havertz is also sidelined after a knee minor surgery while William Saliba missed the last two games of his team after picking up a sprain from the ankle before the Liverpool match.
