Mikel Arteta just said Arsenal fans already knew about Leandro Trossard
If 2026 will finally be the year Arsenal win their elusive first Premier League title, Leandro Trossard likely looks to be a key figure.
The Belgian scored his sixth goal of the season in Tuesday’s 4-1 demolition of Aston Villa, scoring the crucial third goal. It was Trossard’s 35th goal for the Gunners, in addition to 28 assists. This is the biggest commitment by an Arsenal player since his debut against Manchester United in January 2023. It’s fair to say he has been a better signing than Mykhailo Mudryk would have been.

Although he is now 31, 2025 was probably the best year for Trossard, one of the most productive attacking players in the Premier League. This statement is supported by the numbers.
Premier League players with over 17 goals in 2025

Erling Haaland | 27 | 6 | 33 |
Mohamed Salah | 16 | 8 | 24 |

Only five players have recorded more Premier League goals than Trossard throughout 2025. Two of those five have moved for over 65 million, or are close to doing so, one has been rewarded with a 400,000 per week contract, one is Bruno Fernandes and the other is Erling Haaland. Suffice it to say that Trossard doesn’t get the credit he deserves, even though he is certainly appreciated by his manager.
What Mikel Arteta said about Leandro Trossard before Bournemouth
Mikel Arteta held his pre-match press conference on Friday, ahead of Saturday’s visit to Bournemouth. When asked about Trossard, he praised the Belgian effusively:
“I think he’s been very consistent, very stable, but I would say like all the top players, because they’ve contributed tremendously throughout the season, whether as a starter or as an impact player. They’re in a big moment.”Mikel Arteta
Trossard has started each of Arsenal’s last three Premier League matches on the left flank. That streak looks set to continue at Dean Court this weekend, with the small matter of a clash against champions Liverpool next Thursday.

This summer, the club rewarded Trossard with a pay rise, news which sparked a lot of anger and disappointment at the time, with many supporters wanting to move on from the 31-year-old. Well, despite the presence of Gabriel Martinelli and Eberechi Eze, the Belgian remains first choice in attack and rightly so, scoring crucial goals against Sunderland, Fulham, Spurs and now Aston Villa.
Most fans have long agreed that Trossard is the club’s best finisher, always contributing whether he is a starter or even during his time as a super substitute. At centre-forward, with Viktor Gykeres struggling to acclimatise, while Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz have only just returned from long-term injuries, Trossard’s away goals are proving invaluable.
