Mikel Arteta swiftly dodges a question every Arsenal fan wants answered

Arsenal are in a good position at the moment. Despite draws against Chelsea and Manchester City, and this weekend’s defeat against Aston Villa, Arsenal comfortably lead the Premier League as well as the Champions League.

Notably, after the victory against Club Brugge in their European match on Wednesday, Arsenal are the only team to maintain a perfect Champions League winning record after six wins.

There are things they need to improve on and they need to be more consistent with their results, but the improvements they have made in previous seasons are also clear as day.

Arsenal look like contenders, they play like contenders and they act like contenders. Previously, there was always something missing. But now things are looking good for the Gunners.

However, one question remains on everyone’s mind as the transfer window approaches.

Mikel Arteta quickly avoids a question every Arsenal fan wants answered

It’s still December, so there are a few weeks before anyone in Europe has to talk about this sort of thing again, but inevitably there will be talk of Arsenal signings.

Arteta was also asked about this, and it seems he quickly moved past the question without really giving a clear answer to it.

He said: “At the moment we are just focused on getting the players back, and hopefully it will only be a matter of weeks. We know how important these weeks will be.

“We’re going to enter a period where a lot of things start to be defined and I hope we get them.”

I mean, I understand his point of view if he’s avoiding the question. No manager in world football likes to talk about transfers that haven’t even materialized. There is no confirmation if Arsenal actually want to sign anyone in the winter transfer window.

Even if there was a chance they would look into it, now would be the time to look into it. Either way, there won’t be a clear answer at the moment. At least in my opinion.

And what’s more, the Arsenal team seems pretty complete to me. They have good defensive coverage at every position. They have two really talented centers, very creative midfielders, as well as good options for the future.

So there’s no real need to improve the team right away. If there is an area they would like to sign a replacement, they would be better placed to do so this summer anyway.
