There is no buyout clause in João Palhinha’s new contract with Fulham, according to credible reports.

Fulham’s Portuguese midfielder João Palhinha was on his way to Bayern Munich at the end of the transfer window. But the deal fell through at the last moment.

The German giant, on the other hand, was expected to make another attempt in January, and the 28-year-old has also been linked with Barcelona and Manchester United.

Therefore, yesterday’s announcement that Palhinha is extending his contract with Fulham until the summer of 2028 came as a surprise.

Some suspected there might be a buyout clause in the deal, but now credible Sky Sports state that this is not the case.

In other words, it will be expensive if any of the big clubs want to solve the 28-year-old in the future.

Palhinha joined Fulham from Portuguese side Sporting CP last summer. The midfielder is so far listed for five goals in 43 games.

UPDATE 11:25 A.M.:

Now, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano writes that Bayern Munich will try at Palhinha again in January after all.

The reports further suggest that the contract meant a hefty pay rise for the 28-year-old, but that it does not necessarily change the plan to sell him for a large sum in the future.
