Spurs’ ‘pragmatic’ approach to prepare them for future creativity – Analysis
Supporters like their team to have an identity, and I already see one at Tottenham under Thomas Frank after less than 10 league games.
At the moment, they’re a well-coached team with a tremendous work ethic who are hard to beat and aren’t obsessed with playing out from the back and giving away stupid chances.
I would also say that they are reasonably pragmatic and rely heavily on set pieces, as we saw in their 3-0 win at Everton on Sunday, but there is nothing wrong with that.
Many other teams are the same and Spurs have big players to target and others who can provide a good performance.
At the moment it feels like they are looking for the individual brilliance of their strikers in open play to provide moments of magic in matches, rather than a system to play through the opposition.
I look at them and I think Mohammed Kudus needs help in that regard, but that help is coming.
However, the main reason I think they will improve is Frank himself.
