After Man City’s victory over Arsenal, former players have shared who they think will lift the trophy
Manchester City laid down a marker in their huge title duel with Arsenal on Sunday, winning 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium to close the gap at the top of the table to three points.
With a game in hand on Wednesday against 19th-placed Burnley, Man City could leapfrog the Gunners on goal difference with a victory, but who do the pundits think will lift the trophy and why?
Pundits’ predictions
| Pundit | Title prediction |
|---|---|
| Gary Neville | Man City |
| Patrick Vieira | Man City |
| Roy Keane | Arsenal |
| Micah Richards | Man City |
| Wayne Rooney | Arsenal |
| Danny Murphy | Man City |
| Rob Green | Man City |
| Chris Sutton | Arsenal |
Gary Neville:Â “For the first time this season, I’m going to say [the Premier League Trophy ribbons] are going to be blue.”
Patrick Vieira:Â “The momentum is on City’s side. It will be interesting to see how Arsenal recover because it’s a huge disappointment for them. They will feel the pressure more now. I believe City will do it.”
Roy Keane:Â “I’m going to stick with Arsenal. That belief isn’t as strong as it was before the game, but I am going to stick with Arsenal because I called it at the start of the season.”
Micah Richards: “I said: if Man City win this game, they win the league.”
Wayne Rooney: “City’s fixtures look a little bit more difficult, so I still have Arsenal down as slight favourites.”
Danny Murphy:Â “Bournemouth away could be tough for Man City and West Ham is probably the one to watch for Arsenal. But it will be [decided by] goal difference and Man City will edge it.”
Rob Green: “It’s going to take something monumental for Arsenal to turn this around.”
Chris Sutton: “Arsenal will win the Premier League. They have the easier fixtures, and Man City will slip up in theirs.”
