Saka and Rice seal Arsenal win over West Ham
Declan Rice scored his first goal of the season before Bukayo Saka added a second, while Arsenal beat West Ham comfortably in the 300th game of manager Mikel Arteta in charge.
Arsenal had an excellent start to the season to lose a single match and Arteta sought to make sure it continued with its selection of attack.
The Arsenal manager appointed a three -time midfielder from Rice, Martin Odegaard and Ebelechi Eze when he used his team’s options after an expense of 250 million pounds Sterling in summer.
However, this trio did not last long with Odegaard to leave with an injury, the third home game of the Premier League that he was withdrawn early.
Rice was then pushed into a more advanced role while Martin Zubimendi was brought and the former West Ham midfielder was on site to finish intelligently after Eze was pushed in the region by Alphonse Areola.
Arsenal dominated the majority of the game with West Ham limited to speculative efforts whenever they had the rare chance to attack.
The Gunners sealed the victory in the second half when Jurrien Timber was brought back by El Hadji Malick Diouf and Saka put the penalty with confidence in the area.
It was a great way for Saka to mark his 200th appearance in the Premier League and means that his impressive record is now at 55 goals and 45 assists.
The victory passed Arsenal to the top of the Premier League, supplanting Liverpool before their match against Chelsea later on Saturday.
