Sir Alex Ferguson’s Honest Verdict on Man City and Arsenal Title Race

Sir Alex Ferguson has already given his honest verdict on how he would view a Premier League title race between Manchester City and Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta’s Gunners currently sit top of the table ahead of the weekend’s matches.
They have collected 19 points from their eight matches so far this season, recording wins against Manchester United and Newcastle.
They drew 1-1 at home to Manchester City in September, with their only defeat being a 1-0 loss to Liverpool at Anfield.
City, meanwhile, are now in second place after recovering from a relatively slow start to the campaign.
They lost two of their first three matches but, helped notably by the signing of Gianluigi Donnarumma and the form of Erling Haaland, have won four of their last five matches, conceding only twice.
Pep Guardiola’s side, who travel to the West Midlands to face Aston Villa on Sunday, are three points behind Arsenal, who host Crystal Palace at the Emirates Stadium on the same day.
It is looking increasingly likely that the Premier League title race will be fought between Arsenal, City and third-placed Liverpool – although it is still far too early to rule out other contenders, such as Chelsea, from potentially being able to challenge.
Ahead of the title race in the 2023/24 season, which saw City win ahead of Arsenal as their closest contenders, Ferguson was asked by ITV Racing which of the two teams he would prefer to see lift the trophy.
And his response says it all.
He simply said, “I’m not interested.”
Interviewer Matt Chapman replied: “Reasonable. Very sensible. You know the game, don’t you, Sir Alex?”
If Chapman was trying to get a further response from Ferguson, it didn’t work, as the Scot continued to stare at him before bursting into laughter.
Ferguson’s former club Manchester United are currently in ninth place, having recorded back-to-back Premier League wins for the first time under Ruben Amorim.
Last Sunday’s 2-1 win over Liverpool at Anfield raised hopes that the club could have made a career of their own after a long lack of consistency under Amorim.
But they will need to back up that victory with a positive result against Brighton, who they host at Old Trafford on Saturday.
