Stuttgart beats Holstein Kiel 3-0 and reaches the semi-finals of the German Cup

KIEL, Germany (AP) — Defending champion Stuttgart defeated second-division club Holstein Kiel 3-0 on Wednesday to reach the semifinals of the German Cup.

Deniz Undav broke the deadlock for the visitors in the 56th minute, then Chris Fuhrich took the lead in the 89th minute and Atakan Karazor closed the scoring three minutes into added time.

Stuttgart won their fourth German Cup title last season, beating third-division team Arminia Bielefeld in the final.

Holstein Kiel played in the quarter-finals for the first time since reaching the semi-finals in 2020-21.

On Tuesday, Bayer Leverkusen reached the semi-finals for the third consecutive season by beating St. Pauli 3-0.

The other two quarter-finals will be played next week: second-division Hertha Berlin will face Freiburg and Bayern Munich will face Leipzig.
