The proliferation of legalized gambling has had many unintentional consequences. In the NBA, another serious series of consequences could be carried out.

Espn.com reports it Federal authorities are investigating Detroit Pistons Guard Malik Beasley about game accusations.

The case is aimed at the 2023-24 season, when Beasley played for the Milwaukee Bucks. An important sporting book has detected “usually heavy bets” on Beasley’s statistics in January 2024.

“An investigation is not a debit,” said lawyer Steve Haney in Espn.com. “In Malik he has the same right to the presumption of innocence as anyone else under the constitution of the United States. Starting from now he has not been accused of anything.”

The NBA told Espn.com that it is collaborating with the investigation.

Last year, Toronto’s striker Raptors Jontay Porter received a prohibition of life from the NBA for his role in a game scheme based on the “under” propositions of Porter in several games.

The NFL has managed to avoid an important game scandal since the United States Supreme Court has opened the doors of states to adopt the points they bet in 2018. It seems that it is only a matter of time before it happens in the most popular American sport.
