The Knicks are still looking for their first road win after a 115-113 loss to the Heat
The Knicks lost to the Miami Heat, 115-113, on Monday night despite an exciting comeback late in the fourth quarter and are still looking for their first road win this season.
Here are the highlights…
— Without starters OG Anunoby AND Jalen BrunsonNew York went with a starting five of Landry Shamet, Miles McBride, Mikal Bridges, City of Karl-Anthony AND Mitchel Robinson. That unit struggled to get things going offensively from the jump as the Knicks only managed to score 20 points in the first quarter.

In fact, only McBride, Bridges and Josh Hart they were able to make one shot in the first 12 minutes in which New York shot 3 of 9 from deep and 7 of 21 overall. But thanks to an equally poor offensive showing by Miami (25 points on 9-of-25 from the field), the Knicks trailed the Heat by just five points heading into the second quarter.
— New York changed its tone in the opening minutes of the second quarter and took the lead with a 7-0 run Jordan Clarkson and Shamet springs into action. Things went back and forth from there as both teams exchanged buckets which led to multiple ties and lead changes.
The Knicks’ final lead of the quarter came on a double by Hart with 2:33 left in the half that gave his team a 46-44 lead. From there, the Heat went on an 11-5 run, inclusive David MitchellWith less than 10 seconds remaining, they enter halftime with a four-point lead.
— After halftime, Towns took command offensively for New York, which needed someone to step up without two of its starters. Towns scored eight of the team’s first 10 points in the second half, making his presence felt under the basket. Joining Towns were Robinson, Bridges and Hart, who all scored their points inside the box.

— Surprisingly, the Knicks scored 31 points in the third quarter without making a single 3-pointer after finishing the quarter 0-for-5 from deep. As for Miami, he went 4-of-7 from beyond the arc, but the team missed several mid-range shots to allow New York to climb back with its patient yet effective offensive approach.
– Down one heading into the fourth quarter, the Knicks took more of a lead in the opening minutes. They also hit a 3-pointer when McBride drilled a deep one to tie the game up with 10:44 left in the game. It would be the only 3-pointer made by either team for nearly eight minutes as both offenses leaned on attacking the rim.
— During that period, the Heat went on a 14-3 run and trailed by 10 points with 3:10 to play. However, McBride would hit two threes to cut Miami’s lead to four points and after Towns made two free throws with 1:10 left, the Knicks trailed by just two points.
After a Norman Powell two points pushed the Heat’s lead back to four, Towns buried one from deep to make it a one-point game with 22.4 seconds left. New York immediately fouled Miami’s next possession and had a chance to tie or take the lead on their next possession after Mitchell made one of two free throws.

— It looked like the Knicks had tied it after that Kel’el Ware was called for Towns’ two-point shot with 13.2 seconds left, but after a restarted review the call for the shot was overturned. New York had another chance to tie or win the game, but McBride missed a four-foot shot and the game was over.
— McBride finished with a game-high 25 points on 10-of-23 shooting (5-of-12 from deep), but couldn’t hit his biggest shot of the night.
— The Knicks are now 0-4 behind MSG this season.
Game MVP: Kel’el Ware
Not only did his controversial block (one of three of the night) ultimately serve as the game-winning play, but he also posted a double-double (16 points, 14 rebounds).
