Tim Legler replaces Doris Burke in Espn’s main NBA team; Extension of the Burke Inks contract
ESPN has announced some changes on Thursday for its NBA transmission teams that entered the 2025-26-TRA season, a promotion for Tim Legler and an extension of the contract (but also a decoction) for Doris Burke.
Legler will join the main NBA crew of the network, which also includes the play-by-play-play Mike Breen, an analyst colleague Richard Jefferson and journalist Lisa Salters.

That team will call the NBA 2026 finals on ABC, as well as the finals of the conference, several playoff games of the first and second round, a match on Christmas day and the first evening games of the NBA on ABC.
Legler is a former NBA journalist who won the three-point shooting race during the 1996 All-Star holidays. He retired as a player in 2000 and joined Espn as an analyst the same year.

Espn did not provide details on the extension of the Burke contract, in addition to saying that it is for more years. According to a press release, Burke will call “Full Strets of Games throughout the regular season and the NBA playoffs” on Espn and ABC with the play-by-play-play dave Pasch presenter.

Burke has been with Espn since 1991 and joined the NBA transmission team of the Net in 2023. When he called the NBA finals of 2024, he became the first woman to serve as a television games analyst for a championship match in one of the four main sports championships for US men.
In 2018, Burke received the Curt Gowdy Media Award of Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame for exceptional basketball contributions.

The news that Burke’s future with the main NBA team was in the air was reported for the first time by Athletic in June in view of the 2025 finals. The Indiana Pacers Rick Carlisle coach spoke in support of Burke during his press conference before game 1.

“He changed the game for women in transmission,” said Carlisle. “Doris is an excellent example of courage and got out there.”
Also on Thursday, Espn has announced a multi -year extension for Jefferson, who has been with the network since 2019 and defined his first NBA finals this year.
