A north London derby set in chaos. One team fearing a fall and another petrified of a fall – the importance of this match can never be underestimated, but it carries much greater weight in this edition.

Arsenal at the top of the table Premier League table; Tottenham moved to 16th. Five points separate Mikel Arteta’s side and Manchester City in second heading into the weekend, with the same applying to Spurs and the relegation zone.

Two wins in their last seven league outings meant that nerves took precedence over confidence. It was topped with a 2-2 midweek draw with Wolves in which everything from tactics to weather was blamed – North London Forever, Which The Weather* indeed (*when conditions are ideal).

Spurs have already hit the panic button. Igor Tudor is present and his position as a veteran firefighter in the world of football management shows that they are under no illusions about their current position. “You’re here to keep us in the league, Igor. That’s it.

If you asked the question whether the hosts could get anything out of this game a few weeks ago, you’d probably say there’s no chance. Few people could fault you for that response either.

They have not won a single Premier League match in 2026, despite finishing 4th in the Champions League. Thomas Frank’s ice-cold football led to games in which little was expected and few results were achieved.

But things seem different now. There is uncertainty over what Tudor will bring to the visitors’ fragile situation. However, courage must be expected: the local public will demand it.

And ultimately, Tudor could win just one game as manager and end up in Tottenham folklore if this is the one that completely derails Arsenal’s title hopes.

Maybe courage is the word of the day. The reality is that Arsenal are a much better team, but Tudor will not allow his team to stand idly by and allow their opponents and main rivals to dictate things in his first game at the helm.

So how brave will they be? Will they play reasonably and try to limit their opponents? Or will Tudor have instilled his methods in the players from kick-off? If we consider the latter of the two scenarios, it is clear that he had time to do so.

We don’t often get this during mid-season meetings and yet here it is a luxury gift. Walking away from Frank and then putting up a performance similar to his performance just because you’re facing a “good” side would end the project before it even started.

A managerial change presents betting opportunities based on theories and often on prices, it is worth trying them. In this one, it is MICKY VAN DE VEN 1+ HELP at a very attractive 33/1.

If Tottenham play similarly to previous Tudor teams, we should see them line up in a three-way system with full-backs. However, the wider central defenders will be expected to contribute to the attack.

They move forward to overlap the full-backs and can find themselves very advanced in possession. They are necessary when trying to create a numerical advantage during wide attacks.

Van de Ven has experience as a left-back anyway, but we can expect him to be best suited to take on that role. He is quick and confident with the ball.

Juventus left central defender Lloyd Kelly worked similarly at the start of the campaign and created three chances in their first five Serie A matches. Three chances came in three Champions League matches, including two out of four at the Club World Cup.

Along the same lines, I also take RADU DRAGUSIN 1+ HELP at a higher price of 50/1. The same case as above applies to the right side of the back three.

The other thing is that, given Spurs’ injury problems, it’s not entirely clear at this stage who will make up the bottom three. The ideal is for Van de Ven to be on the left and Dragousine on the right with someone else in the middle, but this also includes at least one of them being given permission to move forward.

With both of these players being central defenders, there is also the potential for a set piece bet. The threat of open play is there, but there is also the possibility that they will make first contact with a corner or come back for someone else to convert.

Perhaps the Spurs are opting for a conservative approach out of necessity. Maybe they’ll take the game to Arsenal. If it’s the latter, I hope the two named here are involved.
