Everton star James Garner has signed a new four-and-a-half year contract to extend his stay at the club. He has been a standout performer for the Toffees this season and told Evertonv: “I’m really excited to commit my future to Everton.

“I am so grateful for all the support and love I have received over the last three and a half years, but this is only the beginning.

“I have seen the progress we have made recently. Now I want to be part of that progress and get us back to where the Club deserves to be.

“I feel like I’m now part of the Club and I hope to be part of it for a long time.

“I have family members who are all Evertonians, so I know exactly the passion and, as I just said, what it means to play for a big football club like this.”

Everton boss David Moyes added: “We are really pleased that Jimmy is committing his long-term future to Everton.

“He is a player who has developed enormously during his time at Everton. He is taking on more responsibility and we now see a very important midfielder, with the versatility to play in other positions, as well as someone who is becoming a leader for us.

“He is still only 24 years old and we hope he continues to progress while playing a big role in taking us forward in the future.”
