The Miami Heat open the season with a hard stretch of the program: 11 of their first 15 games are against playoffs teams of a season ago and six of the first eight of the team are traveling.

Miami will have to navigate on that stretch without his star guard, Tyler Herro, who will miss the beginning of the season while he recovers from foot surgery, A story broken by Shams Charania by Espn. Although there is still not a calendar for his recovery, he will miss the beginning of the season, according to several relationships.

This is not a new injury (whose details are not public) but an ankle injury during out of season training added to it. Anthony Chiang del Miami Herald detailed what led to Herro’s decision.

Herro, 25 years old, felt for the first time uncomfortable in the left ankle during a training before this offseason, according to a source of the championship. Herro has received plasma and cortisone injections full of platelets in recent weeks in the hope of avoiding surgery, but the discomfort has never subsided and surgery has been considered necessary to avoid more problems along the road.

Herro is coming out of his best NBA season and his first as All-Star, with an average of 23.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game, with a real shooting percentage of 60.5 fueled by him shooting 37.5% from beyond the arch. It was the heart of the heat attack.

That role probably falls to Norman Powell, which the heat has acquired this summer. Last season with the Clippers, Powell had a year of career (but it was not an all-star in the Deep West). Last season, Powell scored 21.8 points per game while shooting 41.8% from 3 points.

Miami spent the summer in an attempt to find a Terry Rozier trade, which is due $ 26.6 million – $ 24.9 million this is guaranteed – but he could not find buyers, and acquisition interviews have not gone anywhere. Now, this can prove lucky, if more expensive than the expected heat, because the veteran moves in a key rotation role until Herro returns. Rozier marked on average 10.6 points per game last season, but fought with his shot, hitting 29.5% from 3 and with a real shooting percentage of only 49.7 (for the comparison, the average of the League was closer to 57).
