Tyrese Haliburton: Indiana Pacers Star Tears Achille Tendon

The Superstar of Indiana Pacers Tyrese Haliburton could lose the entire NBA season of 2025-26 after undergoing surgery on a torn Achille tendon.

The 25-year-old fell on the pitch without any contact while attempted to lead to the basket seven minutes in the first quarter of the decisive game of the play-offs of the NBA championship at Oklahoma City Thunder.

He was in evident anguish as he was helped by the field and lost the rest of the game, that his team lost 103-91 to put an end to their hopes of a first NBA title.

The pars confirmed that it would undergo surgery for the injury, which has a probable recovery time from eight to 10 months.

The two -time All Star is the third high profile player to suffer an Achille tendon broken in the play -offs of this season, following Boston and Damian Lillard’s Jayson Tatum of Milwaukee.

The injury is similar to what Kevin Durant held for an entire season when he was injured in the 2019 NBA finals while playing for the Golden State Warriors.

Haliburton had played in Sunday’s decision maker despite having suffered from a calf tension in the five of the finals.

He followed an extraordinary race in which he hit a binding or winning shot in the last seconds in all four of the play-off rounds.

“I would do it again, and again later, to fight for this city and my brothers,” he published on X after the intervention. “For the possibility of doing something special.

“Words cannot express the pain of this disappointment. The frustration is unfathomable. I worked throughout my life to get to this moment and that’s how it ends?”

Pacers Rick Carlisle coach paid tribute to Haliburton after Sunday’s game.

“What happened with Tyrese, all our hearts have fallen,” he said. “But he will go back in time and I think he will make a complete recovery.”
