Warriors looking at Cody Martin as a potential target – NBC Sports Bay Area and California
Warriors seem to have a player in mind to add to the depth of the bench.
Golden State is interested in the wing of free will Cody Martin, according to the insider NBA Jake Fischer.
“Another name in the list of Warriors’ counter objectives, say sources, is Cody Martin,” said Fischer.
Entering what would have been his seventh season of the NBA, Martin scored on average 6.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.7 rebounds for almost six seasons with the Charlotte Hornets – not too squalid.
But Martin fought after being exchanged with the Suns at the NBA commercial expiration of 2024-25 and marked on average 3.7 points per game, making only three of the 27 attempts of 3 points in 14 games with Phoenix. This is all before mentioning that the 29 year old Martin faced his right dose of injuries, playing in just 93 of the possible 246 games in his last three campaigns.
Martin clearly is not the most exciting option, but it is generating interest from competitive teams beyond Warriors.
“The veteran Swingman has received interest from numerous playoffs teams this summer, but it is said that he is waiting to see if an opportunity with Golden State turns out to be his most attractive option … or if it is better to let the season start and see which opportunities arise after the start of the training camps,” wrote Fischer.
Apparently Golden State is waiting for the end of the Jonathan Kuminga saga to complete his list. Once this happens, Fischer reiterated that the Warriors will probably follow other pieces of fine rotation.
“We previously reported that Seth Curry and Malcolm Brogdon are candidates for a place of Guerriers Roster after the Kuminga situation has been resolved and the three previous signatures have been completed.”
