Which newcomer of Celtics are you more excited to look at? – NBC Sports Boston
After the season of the 2024 title of the Boston Celtics, the president of the Basketball Operations Brad Stevens has practically put the team on the offseason self -cilot while he reported an almost identical list in the following season. Stevens did not have that luxury last summer, since the Celtics were forced to review that core of the championship in the search for a research under the second prohibitive apron.
So much energy was spent by complaining about the players who left the city – and understandably so given what they delivered here – but in part 2 of our annual Ramp to the field Series, we are asking our panel to choose which newcomer is more enthusiastic about looking this season.
The Boston roster is likely to have at least five new faces in Anfernee Simons, Chris Boucher, Luka Garza, Josh Minott and Rookie Hugo Gonzalez. The team will also have three new two -way players in Max Shulga, Amari Williams and RJ Luis Jr., but we will face their potential impact in a subsequent episode of this series.
With Jayson Tatum put aside by his rehabilitation of Achille, the Celtics will seem Very Different from the last two seasons when the 2025-26 season is tip. Even recent editors such as Jordan Walsh and Baylor Scheierman should see more opportunities this season. But which newcomer is more likely to distinguish?
Summer could be faded, but the Tosaerba season has not even started. “Lawn Mower” is the nickname Minott inadvertently coined for himself after a summer championship game in 2022. In a post-match interview, the Minott who extravagant of energy suggested that it is “like a tosaerba: once I started, I continued to go”.
If the Celtics have to compensate for the obvious drainage of the talents while watching Kristaps Porzingis, Jrue Holiday, Luke Kornet and (in the end) to the horford move this summer, then they may need to compensate it with bustle and determination.
The 22 -year -old Minott only scratched the surface of his obvious potential after playing less than 500 minutes in three seasons in Minnesota. We suspect that its mixture (6 feet-8) and athleticism could open the door to the minutes in the first person, where it will have more time to show off its potential.
He can win an immediate time with his defensive toolbox: rebound, block the blows and use that 6-foot-11 wing opening to stop his defensive assignments. His jumping ability is well documented-based asking the poor Derrick White, which Minott immersed in a game in Minnesota-ma the development of Minott at that end of the floor could be the key as far as it flies here.
Pull the cable and let the lawn grips.
Here is a look at those who chose our panel:
Darren Hartwell, chief editor
Hugo Gonzalez.
Yes, he is only 19 years old. No, it may not see a large game time like a beginner. But the opportunity for the minutes is definitely there in this “sabbatical year” and the skill set of Gonzalez as a high engine director should make it a fun clock.
Developing Gonzalez in a full -time rotation player should be one of Boston’s best goals in the coming seasons.

Do you take n/a for an answer? I am joking! I think. I will have to go with Hugo Gonzalez, only for the potential aspect as a beginner.
I will be surprised if someone turns out to be a derrick white diamond in rough. And I’m not yet convinced that Simons will play for the Celtics.
Sean McGuire, web manufacturer
I expect Amphernee Simons has the task of leading the second unit and I am excited to see how the veteran guard does in that role.
Simons scored on average more than 32 minutes per game in each of the last three seasons and is a proven marker. Given the need for the C to compensate for some of the scores they have lost, you feel as if it could be a crucial piece, especially if it shoots eight or nine 3 episodes per game, as he did in each of the last three campaigns with Portland.
Josh Canu, media editor
Hugo Gonzalez.
The Celtics have not been in place in recent years to work a rookie in a considerable role, but with four of the first six of Boston of last season not in the mix for this season, Hugo could carve out a few coherent minutes if he shows that he is ready.
I was surprised that they brought him immediately, but it is an indication that they feel that he is ready to contribute. So let the Hype train leave the station!

My first instinct is to name Hugo Gonzalez because his draft of pedigree and Psycho Motor, but why not Minott?
Josh Minott is not a great shooter and played only 463 minutes in his first three seasons in the NBA, but has the potential to be a defender of the impact wing and flashed the game juice during his lonely season at college in Memphis.
His nickname is also “Tosaerba”, so I can’t wait to hear what Drew Carter sews him this season.
Kevin Miller, VP, content
Hugo Gonzalez.
His effort and tenacity will be a pleasure for the crowd, but he is super young and will need a seasoning. I love his positive side as a boy of glue who can be a real producer of differences along the way in winning situations.
Adam Hart, Ep, Content Strategy
Chris Boucher.
After a low season of attrition in the frontcourt, can Boucher be more than a bench boy?
