Why Warriors did not exchange future NBA drafts in the first round-nbc Sports Bay Area and California

Steph Curry and Draymond Green will not play forever.
That was the general manager of the main Warriors Mike Dunleavy made in the episode of “The TK Show” on Friday with Tim Kawakami, broadcast one day after the NBA draft of 2025, when he discussed why the team is hesitant to let their future draft choices go.
“We are probably more protective towards most of the teams,” Dunleavy said in Kawakami. “Because not knowing after a few years what our list is, the uncertainty of this, to put those choices in the future that makes them more precious on the market, but for us they are a little more dangerous, so we had to travel that line.”
And walking that line is what they are doing. Curry and Green will both be free agents without restrictions that will head towards the NBA season 2027-28-I four times Champs would have 39 and 37 years old, respectively.
Green also has a player option for 2026-27, but it is unlikely that he would give up on the $ 27 million who will have to do that season.
In addition, Jimmy Butler will also be a free agent in 2027, since the extension of the two -year contract of $ 112 million who signed with Golden State aligned with the two stalwarts.
“The good news is, you know, if there is a player you can call or reach, you know, it is available, we will be at stake,” added Dunleavy. “Because I think that the rest of the League sees these choices as rather precious because, look, the reality is Steph and Draymond, Jimmy, those guys will probably not play for the Warriors in 2032.”
For now, the Warriors will keep the future draft choices near the jacket, but, if given the possibility, it seems that Dunleavy would be willing to press the trigger for the right agreement.
