WSL: Alessia Russo scores twice as Arsenal beat West Ham, Man City beat Brighton

The arsenal striker Alessia Russo speaking to Sky Sports: “It was an excellent performance. We probably did not start exactly how we wanted it, but sometimes it happens when you move away from your home from a hard ground like West Ham. We overturned it, especially in the second period, and we were clinical with our chances. The goal of Frida (Maanum) changed the momentum and we pushed from there.”

Respecting its energy levels after a busy summer: “I feel good. I had a lot of games during the summer, I was always a little shot, so I took a little rest and I then went back in a pre-season. We worked very hard so I’m just ready for this season.”

On its objectives: “It was a great reduction in Olivia (Smith). I just touched it and hitting it, we practice it so much in training and I probably don’t do it sometimes enough. I just went to do it. The penalties are something that you always have to practice as ahletes, so whenever this moment comes, I am happy to intensify.”

On their undefeated start to the season: “The last two games have shown how much we have a massive team. We have players who can come, players who can start and players who can finish – all are full of talent. We want to play in a team full of incredible players.”
