Zamorano: Arsenal ‘more Spanish than English’ but Inter not a step below
Former Inter striker Ivan Zamorano says Arsenal may be the “most eye-catching” team in Europe, “but they’re certainly not invincible”.
Inter welcome Arsenal to the San Siro this evening in matchday seven of the Champions League, and the Nerazzurri will be looking for a win after two consecutive defeats in the competition.

The Gunners, meanwhile, have won all six of their Champions League matches so far and are also leaders of the Premier League table.

“They are a little more Spanish than English. They play very well, they keep the ball glued to their feet with technical players, not just physical, and when they look for a goal they do it at supersonic speed,” Zamorano, a former Inter and Chile national team striker, told Gazzetta.

“You could say they are the most eye-catching team in Europe at the moment, but they are certainly not invincible. They have weaknesses and in the last few matches they have suffered a lot. Inter can hurt them, especially if San Siro lift them.”
Cristian Chivu said Arsenal were currently among the two best teams in Europe, while Manuel Akanji argued the Gunners were “a top team” but “not the best”. But where do Inter stand among the best teams in Europe? Are they on the same level as Arsenal or a notch below?

“Why a notch lower? Because we keep talking about that 5-0 in Munich? Enough,” replied Zamorano.
“Chivu erased that from their minds. All great teams have bad moments; what matters more is how you respond after such a strong blow. In fact, out of this difficulty was born a better Inter, even in terms of the way they played, and it was not easy. The group headed to Chivu without fear.”
The Nerazzurri are leaders of the Serie A table but have not won any of their last 14 meetings against Napoli, Milan or Juventus.
“Beating the teams you’re fighting for the title with is important, but if you don’t manage to do it and you’re still first, it’s not so bad, is it? What matters is not losing the gap they’ve built over the others,” Zamorano said.
“If you win the head-to-head matches, but not the other matches, then it is better to stay as you are.”
