An epic comeback: PSG beat City and overturned a 0-2 deficit to 4-2 against Guardiola’s men
PSG overturned a 0-2 deficit against Guardiola's men in an epic second half that will go down in Champions League history. Barcola was the hero.

An epic comeback, a second half for the Champions League, a Barcola dressed as a hero, an epic in every sense of the word was what PSG carried out against Manchester City, who were winning 0-2 in the 53rd minute and ended up succumbing to the first, the second, the third and the fourth blow, one after the other. The Parisians, led by a monumental Barcola, were saved from a debacle that would have put Luis Enrique’s project in jeopardy and drew on their grit, their character, their faith, all those virtues that they never had with Qatar in Europe for so long, to win 4-2. A capital, vital, substantial victory, which allows them to depend on themselves to advance to the next round.

The French team had a hard time getting going, though. Their first half was a carbon copy of the games against PSV and Atlético, two teams they dominated, but against whom they did not finish. And City was no exception. Without a center-forward who can finish, without a striker who can score the chances he creates, things get complicated. And that is despite the fact that, finally, on the most important day of the season, Donnarumma was good. Unlike other games, the Italian was decisive in City’s only two chances in the first half: a shot from De Bruyne with his left foot and another from Savinho, perhaps clearer, who spat out with his left foot.
PSG were once again left to their own devices at half-time, as it is still incredible how many chances they missed. Fabián hit Ruben Días with a shot in the six-yard box that was a goal and, when the ball finally went in, thanks to an immeasurable Achraf, the VAR ruled it out for a millimeter offside by Mendes before the break. The curse did not end. The game went completely wild. Luis Enrique brought on Dembélé and Guardiola adjusted with Lewis and Grealish. The second was to be key in almost mortally wounding PSG, as, on a rebound from a shot by Foden, he scored the 0-1 at ease. The Parc des Princes fell silent, but sank when, again through Grealish, Haaland took advantage of a back pass from Neves and delivered an almost decisive blow.

Football doesn’t understand logic, but emotions, and irrationalities. PSG drew on pride, grit, and character, they found strength where they didn’t have any, they resigned themselves to dying in the first round of the Champions League and they ate up City after Haaland’s second goal. Barcola dressed up as Mbappé. With a spectacular gallop, leaving his marker nailed down, he assisted Dembélé. And, immediately afterward, with Guardiola’s men still unable to digest the goal, he tied the match. His first great night as the prince of Paris.
The Parc des Princes had not been touched by such a night for a long, long time. A second half that was in keeping with the new Champions League, with more and more fans, and which culminated in an epic comeback by PSG. From a cross by Vitinha, Joao Neves headed past Ederson at the far post and the roar was total. And, in stoppage time, to put the finishing touch to a memorable match, Gonçalo Ramos scored the fourth. PSG sighed and City got into trouble.
