Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres has broken his silence on his future, as Arsenal and Manchester United prepare to battle for his signature in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old Swedish international has emerged as one of Europe’s most prolific strikers, having scored a sensational 34 goals in just 29 league appearances this season. His latest performance — a hat-trick against Moreirense on Friday — further underlined his status as one of the continent’s hottest properties.

Gyokeres’ red-hot form has placed him firmly on the radar of several top European clubs, with Sporting reportedly willing to sanction a summer sale if their valuation of between £58 million and £63 million is met.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is believed to be a strong admirer of the Swede, and with Sporting boss Ruben Amorim tipped as a potential successor to Ten Hag, there is growing speculation about a possible reunion at Old Trafford. However, United’s uncertain Champions League qualification could hinder their chances of securing Gyokeres’ signature.

Arsenal, on the other hand, are thought to be leading the race. The Gunners are in the market for a top-tier striker to boost their attacking options ahead of next season and are expected to be playing Champions League football. New sporting director Andrea Berta is reportedly a big fan of Gyokeres and is eager to bring him to North London as part of a major summer revamp.

Despite the growing interest, Gyokeres remained coy when asked about his future after Sporting’s latest victory, which moved them three points clear at the top of the Primeira Liga.

“No one can predict what will happen; we enjoy the moment,” Gyokeres told reporters.

When pressed on reports suggesting he has an agreement with Sporting to leave in the summer, he replied: “I can’t say anything about that.”

And when jokingly asked whether he liked London, Gyokeres responded with a smile: “I like Lisbon.”

While the Swedish striker is keeping tight-lipped for now, his form and growing transfer interest suggest he could be one of the headline moves of the summer, with Arsenal and Manchester United both watching closely.
