Manchester United posted pictures of a couple of players training this week, which in theory is good news.

Matheus Cunha was ruled out of Monday’s win over Brentford with what Michael Carrick said was a “minor injury”, so he will presumably be fit for Sunday’s showdown with old rivals Liverpool.

Matthijs de Ligt’s absence has been much longer – since the end of November.

Last week, Carrick said he was not prepared to rule the Dutchman out for the remainder of the season.

Given there are only four games left, De Ligt will need an uninterrupted recovery from the running he was posted doing last weekend.

Carrick is not one for giving too much information away on player fitness, so it will be interesting to see what he chooses to say on the Dutchman later.
