Benjamin Sesko Sets Key Condition for Arsenal Transfer as Contract Talks Continue

Benjamin Sesko makes major Arsenal transfer demand as contract detail emerges
Arsenal’s pursuit of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko has taken a new turn, with the Slovenian forward reportedly pushing for a release clause to be included in his potential contract at the Emirates Stadium.
Mikel Arteta is actively seeking a new centre-forward ahead of the upcoming season, and Sesko has emerged as a top target. The 22-year-old enjoyed a standout campaign in Germany last season, netting 21 goals for Leipzig, and is expected to make a big move this summer.
Despite Arsenal’s previous £55 million bid being turned down, recent reports from Germany suggest that personal terms have now been agreed between the Gunners and Sesko. However, a transfer fee with Leipzig has yet to be finalized. According to German outlet BILD, the Bundesliga club is expecting a bid in the range of £68.5 million to £85.5 million.
In a new development, journalist Duncan Castles revealed on The Transfers Podcast that Sesko is requesting a release clause as part of his Arsenal deal. The striker reportedly wants the clause set at just a 20% increase above whatever Arsenal pays for him.
“It’s quite unusual to request a release clause like that when moving from a club like Leipzig to a top-tier side like Arsenal, which is one of the most financially powerful clubs in Europe,” Castles explained. “It’s unlikely that Arsenal would accept such a condition.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal is also advancing its interest in Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi. According to Fabrizio Romano, the club is prepared to pay slightly more than his €60 million (£51.2 million) release clause, with the fee structured in installments.
