How do you assess the match?
Liverpool were unstoppable in the first 15, and 20 minutes, they started very strongly. We tried to play in control and pass the ball, but it was very difficult. They deserved the first goal, although we were good in the first and second half, even though we didn’t create much danger. I know how good Liverpool are in both areas. I congratulate them, we have to re-evaluate and start from scratch. It’s difficult to be confident, but I have a lot of faith in these players. We’ll see what happens at the end of the season.

Do you think your players lack confidence?
We can always play short passes, we can do that, but we don’t have many other options. All I can say is thank you to the team for their effort, I know their commitment with and without the ball. There will be a moment when we find the key. De Bruyne had some good minutes today and Grealish played well in that position. Doku also had some good minutes after being out for a month. Bernardo and Lewis have had many games under their belts. Aké was exceptional against probably one of the best wingers. I congratulate Liverpool, they deserved the victory. We have to accept the situation we find ourselves in and try to improve.
How did you react to the chants warning you of a possible dismissal?
Every stadium wants me to be sacked! It all started at Brighton. Maybe they are right, looking at the results we are getting. I didn’t expect that chant from Anfield. They didn’t sing it at 1-0, but at 2-0 they did. Maybe they should have sung it in the past. I didn’t expect it from the Liverpool people, but that’s fine, it’s part of the game and I completely understand it. We’ve had some incredible battles together, I have a lot of respect for them.

Do you think your team can recover and fight for the title?
I said it before the match, we are not in a position to talk about such objectives, but the season is long. We have to think about getting results and then several players will recover. We will improve then and maybe we will start to believe. There is still a lot to fight for, we will try.
