Fierce fight for Gyökeres: The epicentre of interest in the Swede is Manchester and London
The epicentre of interest in the Swede is Manchester and London. There will be a competition for the Sporting striker.
Viktor Gyökeres is set to be one of the soap operas of the summer. The Swede has been on a roll for the last two seasons and there are many clubs interested in signing him. Frederico Varandas, president of Sporting Portugal, is asking €100M from the teams that have knocked on his door inquiring about the Scandinavian striker.
And these millions are, in principle, easier to pay for Premier League teams. Sky Sports Germany is already talking about two clubs that will fight for Gyökeres this summer. United, with their brand new coach, Rúben Amorim, at the helm, and Manchester City, with Hugo Viana as technical secretary. Both are aware of Gyökeres’ talent. The operation is not easy since Sporting is adamant in its demands, although there is confidence in England that the Lisbon club will finally accept offers for €70M.
Gyökeres is a dream for half the Premier League. That’s why Chelsea and Arsenal also have him on their agenda. Arteta’s men are still lacking a center forward who can make them even stronger. Gabriel Jesus is more out than in and the other alternative being considered at the Emirates is the also Swedish Alexander Isak.
And as money flows, there is also interest from Chelsea in London. Jackson and Nkunku are the team’s theoretical strikers, along with the testimonial Marc Guiu. So a new number nine is being sought. Gyökeres would fit the bill. Neither of them wants to get off their high horse.
The cards are on the table as Gyökeres will surely leave this summer 2025 and the fight is expected to be intense in Manchester and London. Guardiola is looking for competition for Haaland to fill the gap left by Julián Alvarez. And Amorim is Gyökeres’ main supporter at Old Trafford although in the attacking position, he has Hojlund and Zirkzee. The sale of Anthony seems vital to finance the assault on the Swede. The raffle has begun.
