Kamil Majchrzak is climbing the ATP rankings and is one step away from advancing to the best “100” of world tennis. On Saturday, the Polish representative advanced to the semi-finals of the challenger held in Madrid. Majchrzak was better than his neighbor in the ranking, the host player Pablo Carreno-Busta, whom he defeated 2:1 (6:7(10), 6:4, 6:1). In the semi-finals, the Pole will be the favorite. Here is his next opponent.

Kamil Majchrzak started April well. In last week’s tournament in Morocco he advanced to the semi-finals, where he lost only to Tallon Griekspoor (35. ATP) in a close match (5:7, 6:7). Now he will play for the final again.

Majchrzak advances to semi-final in Madrid. Will there be a final?

In the quarterfinals of the Madrid challenger, Kamil Majchrzak (102nd ATP) competed with Pablo Carreno-Busta (103rd ATP). The rivalry between the neighbors in the world ranking was very even. Both tennis players played game for game. They had their first problems only about halfway through the set. With the score 3:2, Majchrzak had a chance to break his opponent, but in the end he did not succeed. In the next game, the Spaniard could have done it – he had two break points – but the Polish representative defended himself.

By the end of the set, neither player had gained an advantage, so the Polish-Spanish rivalry was decided only by a tie-break. In this, Pablo Carreno-Busta was initially much better, already leading 4:1, but Majchrzak managed to make up for this loss. From that moment on, the tie-break looked like the entire first set and was very even. However, someone had to win in the end. In the end, it was the Spaniard, who defeated Majchrzak 12:10.

The second set started better for the Pole, who broke his opponent right from the start. Then Majchrzak increased his lead even more and Carreno-Busta could start to worry. Especially since, even when he finally managed to make up for the break – then he tied 3:3 – after a while he wasted his serve again. Majchrzak did not let go of this advantage. After almost two hours of play, it was a tie.

Majchrzak exhausted his opponent. In the third set, he gave the Spaniard no chance

In the third set, the Polish representative was definitely better than his tired opponent. Majchrzak quickly won the first four games. Only in the fifth did Carreno-Busta cause him more trouble, fought for a long time and finally won. However, it was only an honorary point. Towards the end of the match, Majchrzak had no more problems and won a certain victory. Finally, the Polish representative won this match 6:7(10), 6:4, 6:1.

In the semi-finals of the tournament in Madrid, Kamil Majchrzak will play against the Slovak Norbert Gombos. The 34-year-old tennis player is ranked 398th in the ATP rankings. The Pole will be the clear favorite in this match.
