Man Utd’s Casemiro voted Player of the Matchweek
A goal and dominant midfield performance against Brentford sees Brazilian top our fan poll
Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has been voted Player of the Matchweek for Matchweek 34.
The Brazilian was a key figure in his side’s win against Brentford, opening the scoring as the Red Devils moved a step closer to securing UEFA Champions League football for next season.
It also marked the third successive game he’s scored for Man Utd at Old Trafford, while his eighth headed goal of the campaign highlights his threat from set-pieces.
The 34-year-old utilised his vast experience to deliver a dominant midfield performance. Casemiro made 10 tackles and won 15 duels; according to Opta, he is the first midfielder on record to reach those numbers in a single Premier League match and the first player in any position to do so since centre-back Carlos Cuellar for Aston Villa against Sunderland in December 2009.
